MICF Awards 2025 Spring Grants

May 14, 2025 | Grantee Press Release, Press Release

Mackinac Island Community Foundation trustees and staff are pleased to announce recent grant decisions totaling $127,975 supporting projects and programs on Mackinac Island. The Foundation granted heavily from their unrestricted funds this grant cycle, including a total of $18,000 in awards made from the newly-created Mackinac Island Community Fund, to three organizations: Ste. Anne’s Catholic Church, Mackinac Horsemen’s Association, and Junior Achievement of the Upper Peninsula. Also notable are grants from newly-designated unrestricted funds, the Mackinac College Legacy Fund, and the Henry and Audrienne Murray Family Fund. The Mackinac College Legacy Fund, previously classified as a Field of Interest fund dedicated solely to education, was repurposed as unrestricted earlier this year. The Murray Fund, established as a donor-advised fund, was also recently repurposed. By eliminating restrictions on these funds, MICF is now able to grant their proceeds toward projects on the Island where a need is most evident.
