Mackinac Island Community Foundation trustees and staff are pleased to announce recent grant decisions totaling $134,482.37 supporting projects and programs on Mackinac Island. We are proud to fund 17 grants this season, nine of which are previously funded programs.
This grant cycle had a particular focus on mental wellbeing. The Community Foundation held a Human Services Convening early spring and had identified mental and physical health concerns as a priority for islanders and island workers. The continuation of the Island Therapist program is highly anticipated after it’s renowned success last year. Programs that offer new experiences for island youth and safe spaces for employees are central to promoting wellness and a vibrant island life.
