MICF Announces 2023 Spring Grant Awards

 Mackinac Island Community Foundation trustees and staff are pleased to announce recent grant decisions totaling $54,316.89 supporting projects and programs on Mackinac Island.  The foundation’s Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) continue to be instrumental in funding multiple grants this cycle, citing areas outlined in MICF’s most recent Youth Needs Assessment as important funding priorities.  Below is a brief summary of each award. 

City of Mackinac Island Recreation Department | $1,725.41
Support to purchase Dance Supplies for youth dance classes. 

City of Mackinac Island Recreation Department | $2,190
Support for Wreathmaking Classes for winter 2023.

City of Mackinac Island Recreation Department | $3,847.48
Support for 2023 Summer Sports Camps.

City of Mackinac Island | $3,750
Support to conduct a Housing Market Analysis through Community Research Services LLC. 

FLOW (For Love of Water) | $3,500
Support for a Line 5 Livestream virtual webinar presented by FLOW.  

Harbor Springs Festival of the Book | $2,368
Support to bring an Author & Books to Mackinac Island Public School as part of an educational extension program through Harbor Springs Festival of the Book. 

Mackinac Arts Council | $7,200
Support for the Mackinac Arts Council’s Music on the Trail program. 

Mackinac Horsemen’s Association | $780
Support to purchase a Hot Water Horse Wash Heater for the Mackinac Community Equestrian Center. 

Mackinac Horsemen’s Association | $4,000
Support for Horse Clinics and Shows at the Mackinac Community Equestrian Center. 

Mackinac State Historic Parks | $4,000
Support to purchase Water Fountains with Bottle Fillers for state historic parks locations. 

McLaren Northern Michigan Foundation | $1,500 
Support for McLaren Northern Michigan’s Patient Assistance Program. 

Ste. Anne’s Catholic Church | $1,000
Support for Employee Meals at Ste. Anne’s Catholic Church for summer 2023. 

Wawashkamo Golf Club | $2,000
Support to hold a two-part Community Outreach Program in summer 2023 for Island youth and first responders.

Wawashkamo Golf Club | $16,456 ($32,000 over 2 years)
Support for an Expansion Project to build additional space for historical exhibits, locker rooms, and employee housing at Wawashkamo Golf Club.
